Memorial Day

We had such great plans for Memorial Day! A nice trip to Gettysburg when things would actually be opened (unlike our last trip on Thanksgiving Day!), plus it's always a winner for us to get out of the city.
Unfortunately we listened to the weather and of course they said it was going to be raining all afternoon, so we decided not to go. After all, why go and then not be able to let Lilli run around because of the rain?

So Monday morning we decided instead to take a little drive out to Cabela's, which turned out to be a lot of fun. As we were leaving Cabela's Eric decided to turn left instead of right, you know, just to see where it went. A couple of minutes down the road there was a sign that said Pottsville-14 mi.
I got pretty excited since I have a good friend from Utah State who had grown up there.

We decided to go check it out. When we were almost there I turned to Eric and said, hey I should call Christy and just tell her I'm thinking about her cause I'm almost to her hometown! But I was almost out of minutes so I decided to just send her a message on facebook when we got home...anyway, we checked out Pottsville, which reminded me somewhat of good old Roosevelt!
Then started driving home.
Unfortunately we missed our turn, so we decided to just follow the compass on the car (as long as we were headed south we knew we would make it home eventually!) We saw some gorgeous country, and despite a couple of meltdowns from Lilli (between getting a couple of teeth and being in the car for hours and hours!) it was way fun! It reminded me of back on the day when Eric and I were dating and the first year we were married when we would do this kind of thing all the time.
Of course this entire time there was no sign of rain...which considered the accuracy of philly weathermen lately, should have come as no surprise!
And this is the worst, the next morning I get on facebook only to find out that Christy was actually in Pottsville visiting her family! I was soo sad :( I've seen her only once since we moved here, and now probably won't see her until next May 2010 when we come through Utah as we are moving to wherever it is we end up...oh well.
Sorry about the lack of pictures by the way, I forgot the camera. But considered I haven't really remembered things easily in several weeks (thanks Carmen!) it shouldn't be much of a surprise!
