Home Improvements Update

It's interesting how things can change! When we bought this house we had all sorts of plans for it, none of them really necessary, for which we were very lucky! The house is in great condition, it just needs a few things to improve the appearance.
After much consideration, (most of it based on Eric's current 10-12 hour day schedule) which wears him out so much he needs Saturdays to just relax and spend time with the family! We have realized that it isn't feasible for us to continue any "home improvement" projects we had planned. We've decided to 1) Finish the room we've been working on for the past year! All it needs is a 2-3 hour paint job.
2)Fix the wall where we had a water leak 3) a little tlc on the outside, probably painting 4) some not-so-cheap looking linoleum on the kitchen floor 5) a good sanding and finishing on the hardwood floors and we will be DONE!
It has been a great experience for us to own a house, it has saved us a fortune ($20,000 dollars by the time we leave in a year), compared to what we would have paid at the apartment we would have lived in. Plus being close to the subway has been awesome for Eric. We definitely know what we are doing for the next house we buy, the process, what to look for...etc.
We are very blessed that our neighborhood hasn't been hit hard with the housing crisis, we bought this house for well below the current market value at the time so we are not worried about selling it, and will be happy if we just break even!

sometimes all we can do is all we can do--and that has to be good enough. I'm glad you have enjoyed the house. Cyntha is looking at buying in Los Vegas, and we are conserned because they will only be there for 2 years. But she feels good about it. I hope her experience is as good as yours.

sound as if your home has been a blessing for you. i hope you can sell it and maybe even make a little money. the housing market here is still such a fasre...but you know, people do have to live somewhere! lee and angie are still living in their 5th wheel camper, and saving money hand over fist for something bigger. they are going stir crazy, understandably, but i think they are pretty smart♥ i love the look of your house. good luck with the things you need to finish.

It's so neat that you even bought a house you're way ahead of me in so many ways. Where do you guys live? And where will you be going?
