Hurricane Irene

I suppose I took this pending storm rather lightly, we have seen a fair amount of tropical storms/depressions/etc. during our time in PA. But I must admit it was pretty spectacular what happened last night compared to what we had seen before!

It started raining around 2-3 in the afternoon on saturday the 27th, nothing more then what we hadn't seen before, so no worries. It wasn't even windy.

So we went to bed (after opening all the windows to cool things down)...well around 3 am I got up to feed Jared and saw the blinking alarm clock, it read 1:30. So apparently at one time the power had gone out. One big thing I noticed then was the wind, it had started up and was pretty strong! And I have experienced some pretty fierce wind in my time, especially where I grew up in Utah, we were famous for our wind!

This wind reminded me a lot of the tornado winds I saw in Indiana years ago. It was definitely howling (and then some), and the tree right outside our window was whipping around like crazy. (Sorry no pictures, the camera is m.i.a at the moment!) So I fed Jared and reset the alarm clock...of course it would have been easier to just unplug it...silly me! I went back to sleep...but woke up two or three times between 3:30 and 7 because the wind was so loud! Eric also got up during the night to shut some windows because the rain was coming in and soaking all our dirty laundry right below one of the windows, haha!
All in all I am grateful things were relatively mild compared to the areas down in North Carolina, Virginia, etc. we had some pretty strong wind most of today, but the rain had stopped by morning and the wind stopped sometime this afternoon.

Fun fun!
