A Conversation...and an earthquake!!

Sometimes you have those moments when you realize that your kids really are growing up..they speak in full sentences and you can understand, and they talk to other kids like they've been doing it forever!

I over heard this conversation last Sunday. Lilli and I were in the ladies room at church one of the "commodes" (isn't that a fun word!) doesn't give you the option to flush, it's all automatic and sometimes it doesn't work so well...eeek. So yeah, there are two stalls, I'm in one and there is a #2 in the other so of course everyone is avoiding it. Well I hear the door open and then I hear Lilli talking to another little girl (from another ward, so I didn't know her name). It went something like this:

Apparently the little girl went to go into the uh "forbidden" stall
Lilli: There's a stinky in that one
Little girl: Do you need to go
Lilli: No I'm done, but Mom needed to go
Little girl: okay, so she goes into the stall without seeming offended in the least about what was in there, then she somehow works this magic and gets the toilet to flush.

It's so fun to hear your kids talk!

As for other stuff...

Sorry I don't have a better picture of Jared, I need to take some more...anyway, he has started smiling and giggling all the time, this morning I laid him on my bed so I could do a few things. He wasn't very happy to be left behind until the girls came in and started jumping on my bed. Before long all three of them were laughing!

Lilli and Eric got up early last Saturday and had a little fishing date. No pictures, the battery needed charged on the camera so they didn't take it. Lilli finally caught a little fish this time..I think.
Lilli asked me to write her name on a piece of paper this morning and then I challenged her to try writing it herself below. She actually did it and I could read it to! But she didn't like how it looked so she wouldn't do it again. How do you explain to a nearly four year old that smooth handwriting like Mom's doesn't happen overnight?! I don't think she got it when I told her mine looked the way it did because I've been writing for nearly 25 years!

We've always said that Carmi will be our academic child and Lilli will be the athlete...well it seems to be coming true. Carmi has taken an interest in counting and is able to count to ten with just a little assistance. I am interested to see where Carmi is at in another three years when she's ready to start school.

The girls tried a little bed swap last night. Carmi went to bed and Lilli stayed up to watch a movie with her Dad. When I went in to put Lilli to bed Carmi had gotten in Lilli's bed. So we tried putting Lilli in with Carmi, but it was a little tight, so Lilli climbed into Carmi's pack n play. About an hour later I went to check on them and Carmi had woken up and wanted her bed back. So I gathered Lilli up with her dozen toys she sleeps with and switched things around. It was a fun experiment! I think they would have slept in the same bed if it had been bigger!

We had an EARTHQUAKE!! Yep! Eric felt it, all our friends in Philly felt it...but I didn't! Probably because the kids and I were at the playground on solid ground when it occurred. I definitely would have felt it had we been at home. It originated near Richmond, Virginia (I think) and was a 5.8. We felt it at a 4.1 or something close to that here in Reading!

When Eric and I found out that we were moving to the Tacoma WA area (where my sister Jeanne is currently serving her mission) Eric suggested that I invite her to come and spend some time with us when her mission is over in December. She got permission from her mission president and we are all set! I'm excited to have her show us around all her areas and meet some people. It's working out that she will be going home the same time the kids and I were planning on going to Utah for a visit, so we can all go together.

That's right, in three weeks and three days we will be leaving PA. It's a rather bittersweet thought, this has been home for five years. We will miss it, but we're excited to go back West. It still doesn't seem like we are leaving, I guess it will settle in next week when I start packing...
