Hockey Night

Eric and I both love watching hockey. We were so excited when we found out that Reading had a minor league hockey team. Not that we didn't enjoy watching the Philadelphia Flyers, but there is something about the teams that play because they love it, not necessarily because they are making the big bucks. The air of excitement in the crowd reminded me of the Utah State hockey games we used to go to. So fun!!

The girls had no idea what they were in for, they generally get really excited when we are going somewhere...plus we told them we would get them hot dogs so Lilli was completely overjoyed!

Carmen had woken up from her nap earlier in the day not feeling well at all. She laid on me all afternoon sleeping on and off, and when I had things to do she would just lay on the floor on the boppy. She seemed to be feeling a lot better by evening so we thought she would be okay. Unfortunately she threw up all over her cute little pink shirt right as we were parking. A quick change of clothes and a few wipes got her cleaned up pretty good and off we went.

The Reading Royals mascot is a big lion named Slapshot, which had Lilli all excited. Plus she really fed off the excitement of the crowd. She didn't even get grumpy after what would have been her bedtime.

Yep, that was me after consuming a $3.50 hot dog (well worth it, it was SOO good!)

This was Carmi most of the night, I was really amazed that in between all the very loud rock music and super loud crowd she ended up sleeping through half of the 2nd and all of the 3rd quarter. It probably helped that I wrapped her up in my sweater that I ended up not needing and put the sleeves over her ears so she was in the dark with her ears covered. She did manage to get into the excitement of the game for awhile and clapped and smiled a lot. (And charmed the group of 15/16 year old high school boys that sat behind us!).

A little shot of the team, unfortunately the Royals lost :( but since it's the end of the season they had already clinched their spot in the playoffs. They are actually number 1 in their division. The team that defeated them number 2. It was a really exciting game. The score was super close the whole game, they lost by just two goals at the end.

The guy in the purple, apparently called "crazy arms" was definitely into the spirit of the game. He would move to a different section each quarter and get people to dance around, usually it was the kids. A lot of the adults seemed a little embarrassed. It was quite entertaining to watch.
