I had a handful of mushy apples the other day that I couldn't even stand taking one bite out of, apples must be crispy and crunchy! Eric suggested I try making some applesauce...it turned out awesome! I was so excited about how much better it was then store bought that I went and got a big bag of red delicious apples, (I paid $3.99 for 18 apples) and made some more.
Here's what I did:
You can make more depending on the size of your Crockpot, I just have a small one...
8-9 apples, peel and slice
place in Crockpot with about 2/3-3/4 cup of water, 1-2 tablespoons of brown sugar (or none if you want completely sugar free) and a cinnamon stick (optional)
Cook on low for about 8 hours or overnight.
Place in food processor (blender would also work) and blend. It turned out really silky and tasted awesome. It made about 3 cups of applesauce.
Note: Tried red delicious without sugar, NOT very good. Use a sweeter apple if you want sugar free...
I can hardly wait until apples are in season at Linvilla Orchards! (A local orchard over in Media, PA (southwest of us) where you can go and pick your own fruit, veggies)

Ah!!! That sounds SO delicious! Thanks for the walk through instructions. Amy R. had some applesauce made from home that she gave us one time and I just died over it. So delicious! Definitely doesn't compare to storebought.
Sounds like a yummy idea! I'll have to try it!
