Car Stuff

(Dayna, I borrowed this title from you!!)
Our Jeep has been such an awesome car, we've really enjoyed it and not had an ounce of trouble with it in four years!
Well a few months ago the airbag light came on, and when I finally got the chance to take it in we found out that their was a malfunction and somehow the passenger side seat belt and steering wheel were not registering that there actually was an airbag..not good. It was $500 for the parts and $250 for the labor, not an exciting prospect when you are students :(
I don't know why I hadn't thought of it sooner but the next day the thought hit me "WAIT!!" We have an extended max warranty on this car that's still good for another 16 months. So when I went back to get the repair I mentioned that, they put it in the computer and sure enough, it was all covered, we only had to pay the $100 deductible. It turned out they had made a mistake spelling our name and that's why it hadn't shown up before that we had it.
It was a good thing we didn't have to pay for that because a week ago the wind caught the drivers side door and wrenched it pretty good, (so every time I opened the door there was this awful scraping sound as the door was scraping the body) luckily nothing was broken we just had to choke up $200 to get the hinge adjusted. Ouch. It's incidents like this that make me think I should just retire from driving completely!!

Wow you must have a good warranty sometimes they only cover 'major' things. It's such a pain when those unexpected expenses come by...

bummer! I hate car problems and expenses. We try to do most things ourselves, but there's just some things you can't do (like fixing the door hinge) that can cost so much money!
